North easterner George Nevin started playing in local football before
joining Newcastle United in 1925. He made no Football League
appearances for them and returned to the non-League game again before
Newcastle resigned him for £100 in 1928. This time he played six
times until a move to Sheffield Wednesday in 1930. Just two games
followed for the Owls before his travels took him to Old Trafford
(four games), back to Hillsborough (no games) and Burnley (26 games)
before joining City in May 1937. His two seasons here saw just eight
games in either full back position before joining Rochdale for the
ill fated 1939/40 season. He died in 1973.
