One of five brothers who played League football (Frank also played
for City) Tom was born in Derby in 1898. He joined City at the end of
a career that had seen him score 279 goals in 365 games for Bradford
Park Avenue, Doncaster and Notts County. Thirty-nine of his goals
came in 1930/31 for Notts County and he remains their record
goalscorer in a season. He played just 34 games that season! He spent
just a few months at Sincil Bank appearing 10 times but scoring five
times at the start of the 1933/34 campaign before playing non-League
football at Gresley and Heanor. He died in his native Derby in August 1958.
