Scottish born Archie Kean had played 11 times for Clapton Orient before joining the Imps in August 1922. Described by Benny Dix (author of Cock O’the North) at the time as “a very clever footballer, it is doubtful if a finer dribbler has represented the club in the Northern Section”. He was more of a provider than a goalscorer. Although he did score 11 goals in 76 Football League games here Dix also wrote “when he reached the front of goal his prowess petered out”. Joined Blackburn from City but failed to make their League team and returned to Midland League football for a short spell with Grantham.
