Born in Newhaven, Sussex Charles Bosbury had only played a handful of
games for Birmingham and Preston before joining City in 1926. He
played at outside right and was able to beat a man and centre
on the run&ldots;capable of cutting in and shooting with deadly
effect. In all he played 85 Football League games for us and
scored 30 times. He also played in nine FA Cup ties (three goals).
The last of these FA Cup games against Leicester in January 1929 saw
him play despite being unwell. Afterwards it was found he was
suffering from tuberculosis and he died just seven months later.
